Booda Perches

Postby pfinarffle » Sun Mar 04, 2012 2:05 pm

How do you folks clean your bird's/birds' Booda perch(es)? Ditto on the cotton rope boings. If you're unfamiliar, they are the twisted cotton rope perches. While very soft and comfy on a bird's feet, they also seem to collect a lot of dirt. I try to use my steam cleaner on them, but it only goes so far. It almost looks like they need a good wash in the clothes washer. Can we just throw'em in the washing machine?

I chunk off the poop then throw it in the washer. I don't put it in the dryer because it fuzzes the string.

Thanks, Liz! I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to destroy his perches by doing this. He's an older Sennie, and his feet have gotten to the point of almost having pressure ulcers. So these softer perches really make a difference. Just hated the thought of constantly buying new perches only because they needed a wash!
