Would this be suitable for a GCC?

I really like this cage and the price is in my budget, but I am wondering about the deepness and the bar width?

By the "numbers" it should be ok but I sure as heck would NOT buy that cage. You get what you pay for and in this case it's not good at all. Not only is it just crappy wire bars but guillotine style doors! These are an accident waiting to happen with smart/inquisitive birds. The dangers present in this cage do not justify the increase in size you gain for the money. If you can't afford to pay more, go smaller but better. It's way bigger than you need anyway.

i think you should keep looking for all the reasons micheal gave plus it wouldn't take a :gcc: long to figure out that slide latch and let himself out.

Thank you! I did not know that it was that dangerous.
I will not be getting this cage now, that is for sure.

I will keep looking and get something better quality. :gcc:

I have a GCC and she wants to know how everything works. She's removed keys off my keyboard, stolen caps off of pens, and would definitely figure out how to open latches on a cage.

The doors on her cage swing open like people doors, and they have closures that look kind of like this: http://www.windycityparrot.com/zoomify. ... Lock_1.jpg

They're small knobby looking things that are only on the outside. The one in this picture turns, but mine slide to one side, and something inside the cage releases to open the door.

Where did you find cages with those kind of doors Hooligan?

and
What about these

http://www.wayfair.com/Hagen-Large-Visi ... E1219.html

http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.j ... d=11147351

I think this one looks the best, and it is a local store which is nice.

If none of these are suitable, then I am not sure what I should be looking for and could someone tell me what kinda things I should be looking for in a cage, thanks!

No, especially not like these. Look into a small parrot cage with powder coated iron bars. Forget these wire cages. They're not durable and the doors are horrendous. They really aren't good for anything bigger than a budgie.

Not to endorse a specific product or make a recommendation, but just to get you started:

I realize these kinds of cages are more expensive and a bit smaller than what you were originally looking at. But the safety of wire cages is questionable and durability is certainly better with the bar cages. The amount that they are better in quality/longevity is more than justified for the extra $50 or so.

i would definatly go with michael's suggestion.not only does it have a spring lock that birds can't open but the metal dishes are better than the plastic in the others that birds will chew on.

It's actually the same kind of cage as Kili has (minus the playtop) so it would be quite roomy and durable for a smaller parrot.

No, said cage that Michael posted is too small in my opinion. Why would you buy a smaller cage for a higher price? Always go with the biggest you can afford. Green cheeks are active buggers. I have a flight cage, this one: http://www.mysafebirdstore.com/product. ... oduct=5476

I love it and I love it more. Perfect for a GCC and no dangerous doors. You also get free shipping and 10% off.
