I have a tiel and I would like him to meet my brothers quaker (we already did a two month quarantine) and we were wondering how we should get them to meet without it involving bitting scratching, etc.
when i introduced my birds to my cousin's i kept mine on my shoulder and she kept hers we just watched their reaction to eachother before letting them play. only issue we had was on a camping trip my cousin was petting my while holding her who lunged at my then my stepped in and her backed off it was funny and no one got hurt.
Thats must have have been a hastle Earlier today I tried introducing my cockatiel to my brothers quaker, the cockatiel was on my shoulder and the quaker was on top of her cage and she started hissing at the cockatiel and when he would turn around she would try to bite his tail. dont know what else to do.By the way this is the same person but I accidentally used my brothers account sorry
no it was fun, once everyone settled in they were fine.the first time i knew my liked having other birds around was when an ex thought a would win me back,i got rid of him but he left the bird anyway,my would grab the tail to let him know he wanted him to fly around with him.keep trying.
Hello again. Do you know any advice on how they should meet without it involving biting. I know that might be a tricky one but I was hoping you might know. Thanks
we kept our own birds on our shoulders just to see their reaction.even though my amazon enjoyed the company of other birds i didn't want to take any chances.after the first time her lunged for my and my stepped in and pushed my back like i'll handle this brother hers backed down and we could hold and scratch eachothers without a problem you just have to judge body language.it might be easier if you see a problem to meet in a nuetral place like maybe a park or another family member's/mutual friends house until they like being together.good luck i miss birdy playdates my family has issues so it's off right now
Hello we put them close to each other and the quaker took a chunck of the cockatiels feathers and he started screaming and the quaker started screeching. So things didnt exactly turn out good.
sorry to hear that. did you try just having them in the same room with your bird on your shoulder and your brother's on his?or a nuetral place that doesn't belong to either?when we introduced ours it was the first time for all birds in the camper.
