"Pet Station" idea

Postby Shelby » Mon May 14, 2012 2:44 pm

I was poking around on Pinterest (my latest way of wasting time) just now, and found a really cool storage idea:
Revamped Armoires: Pet Station

Looks like a nice way to keep all your parrot supplies organized but out of reach of your mischievous feathered friends. I know most of you freeze/refrigerate your seeds and pellets, but you could use the sliding storage shelves at the bottom to keep bins of toys. This armoir has little chalkboards installed inside the doors, so you could do the same and list your training goals or "hatch-days" there.

If you have more species than just birds (and it seems like most of us here do) you can also hide leashes and treats in here too!

That looks quite nice. At the moment I've got all the toys and spare bowls etc in a set of plastic drawers, but I can't fit everything in them and some things are just too large or long like the carriers and a few other bits and bobs so I just keep them under the cages which looks messy and need cleaning often!

It's a DIY type project, so it looks like you can do this quite cheaply with any old armoir you find. Around here, thrift shops get clogged with lots of old furniture that would look quite nice with a few coats of paint. The stuff you add (like slide-out shelves or chalkboard panels) is all up to you! Perhaps you could even add some parrot decals or hang little paintings of birds on the outside of the doors... oh the possibilities!

You could even paint the inside of one, or both. of the doors with Chalkboard paint. That way you could eliminate the need to hang chalk boards.
