2 birds 1 cage....

So I am still waiting to hear back about the two :gray:'s I am looking to adopt/rehome. What I am wondering is should I have them in separate cages. OR

They have been together for almost 9 years. so they are bonded together and the cage they have is 36x24x54ish tall. With a play gym that they spend mos of their time on.

What I am wondering what is the smallest that I should keep them in. I will be spending 1 day on an 18 hour shift where they will be in there for. (Unless I can get my schedule changed)

18 hours? really or is that a typo? Surely thats illegal?? max is 13 here and you have to have a certain amount of hours before your next shift can start.
I think they need a bigger cage if they are going to be in them for long periods whilst you are at work tbh, my single conure is in one only slightly smaller. or two seperate ones of the same size as your existing one if your going to go ahead with seperating them. I think I would be more inclined to keep them together though if your going to be out loads though, then train them seperately in a different room for bonding purposes if needed.

What I would like to do is take this room and convert it to a larger play room for them. But if I do that you can see there will not be a lot off room for me in here it is about 8 feet long and 5 feet wide.

Hahaa, brilliant idea, I reckon your birds will love that. I don't know about their being room for you though, you may have to move out your little office ;)

Oh the office has been moved. I moved it to the "larger" bedroom. Since its just me in there now I plan on having them in my now bigger office.. I have the smaller bedroom and they get that room to themselves. Hopefully down the road I will be able to get that room Bird proofed so I can leave them in their play room while I am at work.

I was thinking that the best bet would just put a screen door on the door frame. Almost like a tent. Which would zip around it or something.

Your good. Excellent idea.

When my first child was born, I had a cat I named Kitty Monster because I was the one she would attack. I put a screen door on my bedroom for fear she would go after my son. She never did but I was able to keep her out.
