A little request for michael

Would be great if you can write an article that goes into more specifics of how you made your play tree for truman. More details into all the steps. It would be great for others to know details such as where you bought the branches, which exact branches you bought, and how you glued or screwed everything together.

I was thinking about making my own but its hard to know how exactly to do everything including where to get the branches. As you know NYC is a hard place to find branches lying around.

It's not easy at all. This is why I'm developing an affordable easy to assemble tree for parrot owners. I'm nearly done. Believe me, it'll be available for purchase before you get a parrot. And if you want something more extravagant like what I built for Truman, I could probably make an arrangement to custom build one for you.

Although Michael responded I thought I'd throw this out there.

Here in California there are manzanita shrubs everywhere seemingly. I'm not done with mine but you can make a parrot play tree out of any parrot safe wood by cutting a large branch off and then cutting it up the way you like. Of course wash and dry the branches in the sun and then continue on. Arrange the branches creatively. I tied mine with rope to see how I wanted it to look and then did the final step.

I've taken the lazy way and used stainless steel screws to screw them together, but you could use dowels to connect the branches so that it's all internal and therefore no metal would be exposed. It just takes some creativity, know-how and patience. Depending on your knowledge, willingness to research, and time you have to spend, you could definitely make a tree like Michael's or maybe something a lot less fancy, as with my case. :] You can do it! Here's a very rough guide: http://www.ehow.com/how_6314249_instruc ... stand.html which is similar to what I did. I just winged it, hence the lack of beautification.

hey michael. I will definitely wait to see what you got in stores but i still feel that if i want a bit bigger, it might still be more expensive then i am willing to afford. But i will wait to see whats up.

Eurycerus :

Honestly i found some videos on YouTube how to make it so i think i can do it (after i buy a drill). But the problem for me is more so that i have no way of finding good healthy branches . I found some online places that sells branches but i don't want to get those because i have no clue how it will look in person. I wish there was a place i can go and pick ones out that i like and that will work with my tree. I heard home depot might have some stuff i can use but i also heard that i shouldn't get anything from there since it might be poisonous for birds.

Just out of curiosity, what's your expected budget? I'm trying to aim my production to meet people's realistic budgets.

Yeah home depot didn't even have stainless steel screws! I was shocked. I went to ace hardware. I have no idea if the east coast has that. Probably the issue would be that home depot puts insecticides or other poisons on their wood. Maybe try a more local hard ware store. They might have different specialty items. You might even try paying in craigslist to see if anyone is trimming their bird safe trees they might have in their back yard

Well i want to spend about a 100 on the tree. but it still depends on if i think the tree justifies the price. If i see a tree that i really like then i would be willing to go up to 150 for it and possibly more. For example, those trees that are being sold for like 300ish + online i probably would buy them if they were being sold for half the price. So it really depends on the deal. As of right now, all the tree stands being sold are WAY WAY over priced for how they are.
