Tabletop Tower for African Grey

Postby jk381 » Wed Sep 26, 2012 5:31 pm

Hi, I'm looking for a tower like this one w/ ortho perches -

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Parrot-Tower-Ta ... 0248666829

But one that is suited for African Grey's and DYH Green Amazon's. I think this one is for Cockatiels and the perch's may be too skinny for a Grey and Amazon.

My mom has one at her house for Greys/Amazons that she bought 12 yrs ago when we got Simon (our grey), but the place she got it doesn't sell them anymore. And I would like to have one at my apartment for when Simon and Frito come to stay with me.

If anyone knows of a site that sells them, please let me know, and Simon and Frito will thank you very much :gray: :amazon:

Where do you live? Northern parrots do them and I think they also do the same ones but with
wooden perches, I dont know what the shipping fees will be as your in another country.

I build similar parrot trees in a variety of sizes. I'm not exactly sure what ortho perches means but I may have what you're looking for.

Hi, that sounds interesting and appreciate the offer, but I think I found something that might work instead. btw, Orthopedic perches are those plastic ones that are misshapen on purpose because its supposed to be better for their feet. idk if thats true or not, but was told that a long time ago and our parrots seem to prefer them.

Here's what I found. It says for small/medium parrots. Are Greys/DYH Amazon's considered medium or large parrots? I would guess medium, but not sure. Certainly much smaller than a Macaw, if thats what defines "large". The perch's on this one look a bit fatter than the other one, and look closer to what my Mom has in size.

I think I can remove the legs and make it into a tabletop tower too if nec, or just keep as a stand.

If that is what you're considering, I think you should really go for my tabletop tree. For about the same price, you can have an all wood construction which is much better for a parrot. I didn't realize those ortho perches were plastic. I think you'll find my wooden perches do the same job of exercising a parrot's feet and providing variety. I sent you a PM with more details. I expect my trees to be available for retail sale in a few weeks while I finalize the design.
