Cage Pricing is very alarming .....

Postby NJBirdMan » Fri Nov 11, 2016 1:59 pm

Now that I hope to be getting a parrot in the Spring, I've been looking at Cages.
I am very alarmed at the Pricing I've seen for parrot cages. Even the bargain brands, and I have seen a Cage that I am interested in (a YML cage) but in the last two weeks the Price has gone up from $20-$50 at various sellers. I find this very upsetting. Now the Cage will cost more than I had hoped to have to pay for a cage. Some of the cages are downright outrageous in pricing. Are there any other sources for perhaps used cages or lower priced sellers?

You can always keep an eye out for cages on Craigs list or on Amazon.

Yes, I have gotten a lot of good cages in CL - as a matter of fact, I just got a flight cage for the finches that looks to be brand new for only $85! But, if you are in Northern Jersey, pm me and we can coordinate for you to meet me and come to ABBA with me on a Saturday morning. The owner, Michael, sells not only bird food (he is the manufacturer) at discounted prices directly to the public (people he knows) on Saturday mornings, he also has good cages (and toys, and vitamins and anything that you might need for any type of bird) for much less than you would pay at a store.

Many thanks, Pajarita, for your kindness. Unfortunately, I live in Southern New Jersey, in Ocean County - I have already checked the CL ads down here, and found nothing. Amazon.com's prices are high, and the cage I was interested in doesn't appear to be on their website anymore. Wayfair Is the only place that sells the Cage and it has gone up in price $30.00 in a weeks time. I'll keep checkin' around and see what I can find locally ......

Check eBay, What kind of Parrot is the cage for and how much are you looking to spend?

The cage is for either a Senegal Parrot or a White-capped Pionus.
I was committed to spending $150.00 for the cage.

For that price you should find one on eBay or Amazon

No, there is nothing on Ebay in the Size I'm looking for. They only have 20x20 cages on Ebay.
The Sellers of those do not have a good Rating on Ebay. I'm not seeing the type/style of cage
I want on Amazon. They also seem to have only the 20x20 sized cages in the Open Playtop Model.
