I rarely use anything sweet such as syrups, I usually use honey when wanting something of this nature, but I have always liked the Karo dark syrup and it is the only syrup that I use.

As for the names of the birds, I think they are wonderful names for them.

I often try to get names for my pets that have some meaning for them either by the name meaning or the location the pets origin comes from, unless they are already named when we get them.

We don't get Karo syrup here.

I don't use sugar.
I use black treacle in tea loaves and bacon curing.
Honey for other sweetening in porridge etc.
Occasionally maple syrup on pancakes and icecream.

Weeeeeell, actually, the Tupi people were a group of different tribes in Brazil (all of Brazil but mostly on the Atlantic coast) and Karo is one of the dialects they used. Tupi is also used in the extended language (called Tupi-Guarani) of South America's indigenous tribes. In my country, we have departments (like American states or English counties), cities, rivers and even streets that have Tupi-Guarani names like Tacuarembó (department - the word means the bud of a special kind of cane that grows there), Sarandi (city - it's the name of a bush), Arapey (river - means canoe road) Cuñapirú (street - this one is a funny one, it means skinny woman  ) but we have lots: Cuareim, Chuy (pronounced 'chuí' and the name of a very small acuatic bird), Yi, Yaguaron, Tapes, Tacuarí, etc. The Spaniards killed all the indigenous people of my country but the names remained...

That was really interesting. Thanks Pajarita.

I have been doing a bit of gentle interaction with Karo today. He will target to a stick and has just touched my finger end when I held it out and said target a couple of times.
He loves apple so I managed to get him to take some pieces from my fingers through the cage bars.
So far so good. :)

I couldn't manage to get a picture of Tupi or Karo to load on the avatar either. :?
Eventually I found one on the web that had a Black headed and Yellow thighed caique together.
That loaded no problem. :hatched:

 There you go, Lori! I've always said that one of my strong points is the fact that I am VERY resourceful and always find more than one way to 'skin the cat' (terrible saying, isn't it?!)

Karo has finished his quarentine and I moved his cage into the same room as Tupi.

They really like each other and are playing and hanging out together after only a few days. :D
