I'm putting up chickadee/wren houses today. Why do I think this is going to result in me raising baby chickadees?

 Oh, I am sure you can allow the parent chickadees to take care of their own babes...

How do you all feel about hardboiled eggs for birds?

I was peeling one for myself this morning and I took about half of it and split it between the 4 birds.

I use hard boiled eggs when they need eggs. Scrambling them adds oil.

I used to feed the canaries grated hardboiled eggs during breeding season years ago but I've learned since then that it's a bad thing to do. Eggs are animal protein, high in fat and high in bad cholesterol, so no eggs for my birds. There isn't a single species of parrots that eats eggs as part of their natural diet so, obviously, even if they were good for them (which they are not), they would not need them. I increase their protein intake with quinoa, hemp seed and freeze dried mealworms.

My GCC flew right into the Cockatiels cage. They just sat there eating seed together.

Scared you, didn't it?

That is like when Myrtle sneaked into the cockatiel room and had them all flying circles.

Didn't really scare me. They're about the same size, and they can both fly. I didn't think anyone would get hurt.

Cockatiels are the best little birds, aren't they? They are so calm and good natured! And, of course, Ocean was more interested in getting seed than in bothering them  I've never had a single problem with aggression toward other birds from GCCs but I would not trust an amazon AT ALL!
