This weekend was horrible couldn't get YAYA or JAZZY to Portland for there much needed surgeries. The eclipse messed up everything , couldn't even get through Salem to Portland so they will go up this coming weekend. The smoke here fluctuates between unhealthy and hazardous so the doors stay closed and all systems stay running 24/7 to keep the air inside pure. The birds hate it , I hate it but we're surviving. Hope all is well with all of you. Pajirta you would be proud of me I told Chris no on bringing more birds down until all are healed and placed and that can be a long time as I'm pretty darn picky who I adopt to. Bird woman of southern Oregon And yes I'm fishing for prospective new paronts on this forum ;)

4:00 am leaving for specialist. These birds have waited far too long for someone to fix there medical issues and my vet was putting me off and I honestly think he was hoping I would find someone else with more experience . {which I did , a lot more } would have saved me a lot of time and aggravation if he'd have just come out with it. I know I can be a little intimidating at times but he has been working with my rescues over 17 years now and should know by now that I appreciate frank candid conversation. I'm not a beat around the bush mamby Pambie kind of a girl. Jazzie started to prolapse at noon today after I gave him a good washing before going up and I'm afraid his stitches started coming loose , they have been in so long they felt like little wires hanging out of his butt. He will get another implant and total rebuild and butt resizing and I pray this fixes him permently. Chronic prolapse issues can be a death sentence. YaYa'S wing surgery will be decided once she gets into the wing as she knows if her wing can be saved then save it as long as it's not going to take multiple surgerys , she's been through enough pain with this 2 year old injury. These 2 are rescues I rescued from a RESCUE ! Go figure. Wish me luck and please say a prayer for my babies. BW

Sorry I did not answer the previous posts, I had not seen them -I don't know why or how because I check everyday!

Yes, I am proud of you for saying no to Chris because I KNOW how hard that is for somebody who loves animals and knows there are suffering ones out there. But, in truth, it's the only way you can continue helping. It's better to be able to help a few than end up having to close up shop!

Poor, poor Jazzie and YaYa! Let's all hope these surgeries are the last of their suffering! And, yes, I hear you on the having to rescue birds from a rescue. You would be surprised how often that is the case... and not only with birds, either, but with dogs, cats, horses, etc. I said it before and I'll say it again, all rescuers have a collector/hoarding streak in them [and I will be the first to admit I do, too!] but, once you recognize it, you can control it by listening to your head before you listen to your heart. It might sound cold-hearted but you can't help anybody if you are overwhelmed, and believing that only you can do it is plain crazy - I still argue with my husband over this because he thinks that nobody else gives animals the care and love we do and it's simply NOT true. Lots of good people out there! Problem is, for each good person there are 1000 animals that need help.

Let us know how the surgeries go, we will be sending you good vibes and, for the ones that do pray, also prayers for them! But rest assured that nobody could have done better for them than what you are doing!

YaYa'S surgery got postponed yesterday due to several emergencys . I'm happy she made the decision to put it off as I want her fresh and relaxed when she does it and I told her so. She agreed and said if not today then Monday. Jazzie is doing so good she said he will be just fine. :) waiting on pins and needles for yaya. She is strong and a trooper. Being her usual fat mouth up there.
