Stormy night

Postby Kim S » Thu Jul 15, 2010 3:54 am

Well we had a few big storms pasing last coupe of days. Nothing like you have in teh US, but for Holland it was pretty scary! A lot of trees uprooted, one actually fell on top of my neighboors house! A couple of roofs that fley off of houses.

Fortunately this also means that there are a lot of fresh branches to be found. I snatched a couple of willowbranches for the flock. Kika really seems to enjoy his! When photographing I almost felt like taking pictures of a parrot in the wild. :D

At the moment he is happily munching away on the part of the branch that is fastened to the cage, of course sitting in a branch below that one. So If I hear a loud squawk and a thud I know he munched through the branch....

All the birdies look so happy! Thanks for inspiring me..... I really need to get out to my back yard and cut a few eucalyptus branches/leaves. Our birds would so love it.

Great pics! I think an outdoor aviary like yours is ideal.

A friend of ours does have one...the birds are outside for most of the year (but his has an inside area that can be heated if need be)...but I think our climate isn't really suitable. Too bad though...the birds love it outside...

Great idea! Your birds are absolutely beautiful, I imagine it must be wonderful to provide so many birds with a great life! Being from south Florida, I've been through quite a few hurricanes and each one is as scary as the rest, maybe even more scary once the knowledge builds about the destruction during and the chaos that follows. No shame in being scared! :) I'm glad you and your birds made it through safe and actually benefited from it!
