Citrus?

Postby GreenWing » Sun Feb 11, 2018 12:19 pm

I've heard before that giving citrus fruits to parrots should be limited. Chance loves loves loves oranges, though. Should feeding of citrus fruit be restricted? How much is too much?

Yes, I have heard that too but I have no idea why they say it! All the grays I've had LOVED juicy fruits and oranges are one of their favorites. Mine get oranges once a week almost all year round but, on occasion [as when they are on sale or cheap because they are in season :D ], they also get tangelos, tangerines and ruby grapefruit. I've been doing this for over 20 years and never noticed any harmful effects...

Grape prices are really high right now. I can't afford them but buy a twig of them to give to the birds. You should see the looks I get at check out.

 Yes, I can imagine! See if you can find an ALDI near you. I recently discovered this German chain and the have the lowest prices -especially in fruits! I went there yesterday and got organic grapes cheaper than the regular ones in the 'regular' supermarket!

I love Aldi's. They are a little farther out than the other grocery stores. I'll ask my son to take me.
Thank you for the reminder.

Oh by the way we have two strawberry seasons here and now is one of them.
