Play stand.

Just want some advice please guys.
I managed to dig my old parrot play stand out of the shed.
It's still in good condition, apart from paint flaking on the metal part of the frame.
I want to tidy it up. Would using hammerite paint be safe to use?

Not familiar with that specific paint but generally i like to err on the side of caution with parrots because they are so sensitive.

I don't 'touch up' anything with paint -well, I do it for the canaries cages but that's because they are passerines and don't 'chew' anything. Couldn't you cover it with something? Like wrapping untreated sisal rope around it or covering it with a grass mat or something similar -meaning natural and completely safe for them? Michael has very nice perches/trees for sale...

Thanks. I actually don't use any paint anywhere on my stands including the base borders. Other companies paint them. I asked someone who sells these kinds and they said that parrots don't chew down there. I watched a curious cockatoo at a bird store running around on the floor chewing off the tree base borders that are painted plywood. Not good x2!

Thanks. I emailed hammerite as they advised against using it.
