How to Train Parrot the Wave Trick - Truman Cape Parrot

Here it is, a step by step guide for teaching your parrot how to wave. Truman is the subject and demonstrates how it is done in a mere five training sessions. Please read the article because it will teach you everything you need to know to teach the trick. I would suggest reading the article first, then watching the video and then possibly reading it again. The text points many details out that may be missed from merely watching the video. Even if you've already taught this trick, you're going to want to see the included video of how Truman was trained.

I would appreciate any feedback about my training technique, video, and article as this is the first major parrot training tutorial that I have made in this way. Since there will be many more to come I'd like to refine my presentation as early as possible. Let me know if anything was confusing and make your suggestions.

Finally if you are teaching this trick and have any questions, feel free to ask them here and we'll do our best job to help.

I love this video. Thanks for breaking it down. I plan to do this with one of my five senegals. I hope to make a short video of the progress so that you can see how well he did by using your methods.

One of the most amusing things to watch is Kili in this video. She's so adorable. She waves, and waves when you're giving the command to Truman. Very cute.

Can you tell us all how you made your training perches?

I love it Michael! Might need a bit more of a polish for the editing but otherwise I think it was very good! Your really making me impatient to get my boy and start to try and gain his trust....and train him! I look forward to what is next on the list of "how-to's"!

I have one week left for my one summer class so after that expect a nice 'logo' for Truman =)

The training perches will become available for sale online in the course of the upcoming week. I have finalized the design and now just need to get a website up to make them available. Check back soon.

Yay! I will look forward to purchasing one (or more) from you. I'm very glad to know that you are planning to make a profit from some of the wonderful work you do. It takes so much time to not only train, but make the movies, write the blog, etc. You really deserve more than just praise.
