It looks like many ducklings hatched out at the same time and got confused about which one was mom.

No, apparently, this is something that mother ducks of that species do: they designate one mother to look over all the babies at once. I guess they also need some 'me time' :lol:

A male ostridge has a harem with one favorite. He makes the nest and his favorite lays her eggs first. His other females lay their eggs in the same nest. The eggs are not incubated until all the females have laid their eggs. The male and his favorite incubate and raise all the babies.
