They 'invest'!

Postby Pajarita » Thu Aug 23, 2018 11:18 am

A study done on macaws and grays that showed that they would rather wait for a better treat instead of just taking the so-so one BUT, with all due respect to the scientists, there is no real comparison between a sunflower seed, a walnut and a lousy dry corn kernel. I mean, OF COURSE! they were going to wait for the walnut! Now, if they had done, say, a walnut, a pistachio and an peanut in the shell...

I give Rainbow and Myrtle a nut in the morning to hold them since they are the last to be fed. There have been mornings that they reject getting a pistachio and wait for me to offer a cashew. It is like they agreed to do this before I got to them.

In the evening Rainbow rejects his almond until she can go to her box. She wants to eat it in there. I have to clean out her box and step stool every morning.
