Please help with GCC hand fear

Postby xbrando7 » Wed May 15, 2019 9:06 pm

Hello,

I have a seven month old pineapple green cheek, and I am having a lot of trouble getting him used to my hands. Tiki is a very happy and healthy bird. I've had him for just over two months now, and I've made absolutely no progress with "step up," or even scratches. I've read many articles and watched many videos, but I can't even get to the first step because he runs away at the sight of my hand approaching him. He comes out of his cage (I give him time out every day) and is very active. It's not that he doesn't like me, he loves interaction and is affectionate. He will eat a treat out of my hand, but approaches very reluctantly and then runs away as soon as he grabs it. I'm not sure what to do at this point to make any progress.

Any help is appreciated!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new baby! Now, tell us exactly what you have done to remedy the situation and, if you have done nothing, tell us about an average day with average responses. Also, is it clipped or fully flighted? Diet? The reason I am asking these questions is that the advice depends on the answers.
