:lol: I don't know how but the postings in Spanish were translated to English - only the translation did not come out making a whole lot of sense! For example, when I say 'papa' in Spanish, it can mean 'potato' as it translated but, in this case, it means just 'food' in baby talk. When you first start feeding a baby real food, you tell it it's 'papa' versus anything that is dirty, poisonous or bad to eat is 'caca' which, in reality, means doodoo :lol: I also use that word to let them know they should not eat something although I use the 'Don't touch!' more often.

Pajarita, necesito de tu consejo.
¿Como puedo hacer para que mi you you no sea tan dependiente de mi y mi familia?
Cuando estoy en casa la tengo suelta, pero si por algún motivo la meto en su jaula (para que coma, beba o simplemente para que este un rato allí) se pone a vocalizar sin cansarse.
Imagino que cuando yo no este también lo hará, pero como no la veo y ni la oigo pues ya sabes .... ¡ojos que no ven, corazón que no siente!
Seguramente la culpa sea mía, pero como todavía es joven, me gustaría acostumbrarla a que no debe vocalizar tanto cuando este en su jaula y nosotros estemos en casa.
¿Crees que es misión imposible conseguir esto?

Si, es mision imposible! :lol: Estas cotorras son famosas por sus vocalizaciones (GRITOS!) y no hay mucho que se pueda hacer, sobre todo cuando son todavia bebes o jovenes. Son como bebes humanos... quieren estar con mama todo el tiempo. Se les va pasando a lo que van creciendo pero el truco es seguir un horario solar estricto y una rutina diaria que nunca cambia (no hay fines de semana, vacaciones, feriados ni nada, todos los dias tienen que ser iguales). El horario solar porque es la unica manera que no produzcan hormonas sexuales todo el tiempo (que las hacen gritar muchisimo mas!) y la rutina diaria porque, asi, se acostumbran a estar en su jaula durante ciertos periodos durante el dia y se resignan porque saben que, a cierta hora, van a salir. Pero aun las que reciben el mas perfecto cuidado gritan a la madrugada (un poco) y al atardecer (bastante). Y, por supuesto, uno tiene que pasarse horas y horas todos los dias con ellas encima. La mia es una pesada (como decimos en mi pais :D ) que hay veces que me cansa con tanto beso pero yo la adoro y tengo mucha paciencia y tiempo asi que no tenemos grandes problemas.

Pajarita ..... Yo no tengo una cotorra, tengo un You You, también conocido como loro del Senegal. Ella no grita es muy silenciosa pero cuando estoy en casa no quiere estar en su jaula. Creo que me he explicado mal. Yo solo quería saber si puedo hacer que sea más independiente y poder dejarla algunos momentos en su jaula sin que me llame cuando me vea.

Ahhh, yo pense que tenias una monachus (quaker parrot or monk parakeet, en ingles)! Si, los senegales no gritan tanto pero tenes que tenerlos contigo - la mia vuela de una punta de la casa a la otra pero siempre vuelve a mi hombro o mi falda cuando estoy sentada (y cuando me levanto a hacer algo, se cuelga de mi ropa y se balancea con el caminar hasta que me siento otra vez :lol: ) Pero tienes que entender que la tuya es un bebe y que tardan dos o tres anios en crecer emocionalmente lo suficiente para no necesitar esta arriba de mama todo el tiempo. Los loros no son mascotas faciles...

Yo tengo dos senegales, Zoey, una hembra que no habla nada pero entiende todo, y Sweetpea, un macho que habla hasta por los codos y sabe exactamente lo que dice al punto que tenemos conversaciones.

Ohhh como me gustaría que mi lorita del Senegal hablara como tú loro!!!! Me das mucha envidia. Supongo que las hembras :redbelly: no hablan. La chica que me la vendió me dijo que si hablaban pero quizás me engañó.
