I had a memory this morning.

My daughter took me to a wild bird rescue when we first got here. There was a wild Egret facing a closed door. He stood there not moving for a good while. When the door opened a woman with a wheelbarrow full of fish came out. She gave him a little fish. He followed that wheelbarrow all through the rescue waiting for any fish to fall out.

There was an enclosure with Sand Hill Cranes. Wild cranes nested on the top of the enclosure.

A baby gator was found walking on a sidewalk. As hot as the sidewalks are here it is a wonder that anyone found him before he expired.

Good Day Tampa Bay says a gator was found with a man's body in his mouth. They still don't know if the gator killed the man or just found a big meal.

I have not heard any more about the gator.

A large female boa was found in the everglades. She was massive. It always amazes me how big they can get. I hope she did not have a nest somewhere. The number of eggs depends on the size and age of the snake.

Boas don't lay eggs, they give birth to baby snakes - same as anacondas and vipers (a family of poisonous snakes that includes a lot of species -most of them are called something or the other viper but the rattlesnakes are part of it, too). My father in law from my first husband used to go every year to the Paraguayian jungle on a hunting trip and he had the skin of a huge anaconda he had killed on the wall along with the skins of all the babies that were still inside of her (and I still shudder every time i remember seeing them nailed to the wall!).

I did not know that.

I found a little snake the size of a pensil that was red and had a black head. Anyone know what kind it was. It was not venomous.

The next day I found one the same size and the little punk showed me his fangs.

I don't really know about snakes species. I know a bit of general info, only.
