Very interesting. Without the feathers on the head, I guess it makes sense it would look so small. I wonder if it's a scavenger? Vultures typically have a bald head like that.

Could just be me, but the head shape + long neck for a parrot kind of reminds me of Vasa Parrots. Have there been any studies done regarding the relationship between birds of prey and parrots? This parrot in particular seems a bit like a missing link between the two.

Funny looking bird.
I dont really see the connection between this bird and vultures though. if you look at the other parrots in the amazon, especially the macaws, they all have large bald area's on their faces. On this one it just extends a bit further.
