Hi everyone. I recently acquired a 6 year old male Eclectus. While he's the first large bird I've owned, I am a professional pet sitter and have many clients with large birds that I care for.
Jack is very calm, and talks already. He lived with another family in another state for the last two years (I don't know where he was before that) but had been relegated to the garage for the past several months. His owner realized this was unfair to him, spoke about it with her pet sitter, who contacted me to see if I'd be interested. So eventually, I hopped in my car, drove 4 hours and met Jack. I took him to vet before bringing him on the return trip home.
By the next morning, Jack was talking (about 6 different distinct phrases), whistling, and muttering (sounds like he's been listening to talk radio!) and since he seemed very comfortable, that evening we took him out and he's since been spending time on a t-stand, cage top, and our arms.
He hasn't shown much interest in the fresh foods I've tried, but we're working on that. I know there are some things I want to ask, but I'll check previous posts first, so that I don't become the annoying newbie.
I'm looking forward to this new and wonderful relationship with Jack!
