I want to thank this community and Micheal in particular for helping me re-frame the back-to-the cage behavior. He has almost stopped already just from using verbal praise. Birds are VERY different to train than horses, although the top-animal-in-the-group notion is common.

Glad it worked out. I always appreciate the feedback because it helps me know that my advice does in fact help other people and work in their situations.

Well, he's not entirely cured of biting, but he definitely goes back into the cage without biting most of the time! Any tips on teaching "how hard is too hard" when attempting to groom a human? I do try to praise him for appropriate use and reciprocate, but he really wants all my skin tags and cuticles gone, and sometimes he chomps on a finger a bit recklessly.

No, not really. It's mostly all or nothing. If the bird is too rough, it's better to just avoid it all together.
