Continuing from the Vitamin A Fruits and Veggies list...
Vitamin A veggies and fruits should account for 30-40 percent of a parrot's diet, but listed below are other healthy foods parrots CAN have:
Veggies/fruits:
Peas in a pod
Okra
Guava
Oranges
Plums
Pineapple
Bean sprouts
Artichokes
Asparagus
Apples
Figs
Kiwi
Cauliflower
Zucchini
Beets
Grapes
Pomegranates
Cranberries
Corn on the cob
Brussel sprouts
Green beans
Banana
Pricklypear
All of these veggies/fruits are best organic.
PLEASE NOTE that parrots can have blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries but do not give them non-organic due to harmful pesticides. Blueberries/strawberries/raspberries from your garden are better than purchased organic, however.
Oranges and other citris fruits should be very limited.
Up for debate: Raw tomatoes; they are acidic. Some say it's a no-no, others say it's fine. Cooked and dried tomatoes are OK.
Quality proteins for parrots:
Lowfat yogurt
Boiled egg
Lean meats
Mealworms (ew lol)
Lowfat cheese (small amounts)
Cooked chicken
Tuna in water
Insect larvae (ew again)
Tofu
Nuts
Cottage Cheese
Turkey
Cooked beans
Carbs:
Whole grain bread (Dave's killer bread is awesome, and birdie bread is best)
Total cereal
Special K cereal
Pretzels (non salted)
Quinoa
Wheat germ
Toast
Cheerios
Oatmeal
Oat bran
Energy bars
Amaranth
Brown rice
Pasta
Seeds
Grape nuts
Muesli
