I'll be referring back to Michael's posts in the fall/winter. Starting in the fall once we close the trailer, I'd like to start harness training both Lucy and Jessie so they can spend time outside of their cages on the deck when they are with us at the trailer next summer. I'm sure it will take quite some time especially with Jessie ... he is a typical phobic Senegal and it takes him a while to get over the fear of things.

If you don't have a harness already I recommend the Aviator Harness. I have the Feather Tether and it's pretty difficult to fuss around with all of the little clips. I think that's why Mojo doesn't like it anymore, it's difficult to put on.

How much are you offering to pay?

There may be a subsequent fee for bitey parrots. How does $5 per bite sound?

PS Can you tell us how clipped your parrot is? Tips of 4 primaries cut? Or more? What is the longest you've ever seen it fly before this point?

5.00 per bite sounds great to me. Does the length of time they hold on count to the total price? or amount of blood?

I will check to see how many feathers are clipped. He had one feather on one side that was long (i had not gotten around to clipping) but the rest were short.

Are there local groups in the mid-Atlantic region?

I'm so happy you got it back.

For anyone who would still consider taking a clip bird out without a harness or cage..on another forum I am on, a women lost her Jardine that way. I think she had it harnessed most of the time but once is all it takes. Something spooked the bird, it flew off...and hit the water. By the time they got to her, she was dead. It has to be one of the most horrible way to loose a pet.

It's not possible, let alone desirable, to clip a bird so severely a strong breeze wouldn't have the possibility to carry them off. I support clipping, but I'm not under the illusion that it can prevent loss of a bird outdoors. I may look into harnesses as I'd like to be able to take Scooter out and about more at some point.
