"Yo!"

So, my other half thought it would be a great idea to teach Chance "Yo."

Now she won't stop saying it. I am not joking, in the last 30 minutes she has said it at LEAST 20 times.

Yo! lol

LOL - You have to be more careful with parrots than you are with young children when it comes to teaching them a new word!

My hubby is trying to teach Corsair to say "Pirate" like Johnny Depp does in the movies. He thinks it will be hilarious to have her fly to him to demand her share of his bowl of fruit with that word. Unfortunately, like toddlers, they pick up what is said with emphasis (like swear words) long before any thing else.

I think "Yo!" was a good thing to teach, mustn't it be somewhat easy to say as well? This far I've only gotten my Pi to wolf-whistle, but I know they're usually not the greatest talkers so I don't mind :) She's also flying to the training perch and starts sounding like the clicker, this is not something I've taught her though, she just learnt it...

It is funny, what they choose to say and why. You can spend days or even months repeating a single word that you want them to be able to say and they will not say it, yet they will hear a much harder word or phrase once and start saying it all the time. You just never know. I have discovered that mine seem to pick up a word faster if I say it sort of sing song part of the time.
