Angry Little Birds

Postby MissLady9902 » Tue Nov 03, 2009 8:43 am

Do any of your birds play with a toy but it looks like they are angry when they play with it?
Noodle is currently screaming at and beating her bell and plastic toy. She seems really angry at it!
When she hits it is swings back and bumps her and then she gets mad and "beats" it up!

Yes!

Mojo has this bell that he absolutely 'hates'. It's one of his favorite toys to play with but it always seems like he's taking out a lot of agression on it. I've always thought it was good for him to be using up that type of energy on the bell. Is this a good idea? Or is it bad to be encouraging that type of 'playing'? I think it looks like he's just having a blast playing with it, but maybe he does really just hate it that much? :?

Here's a picture, I'll upload a video once I figure out how ;)

I assure you that your birds are having the time of their lives with their toys. Different birds play differently and this is just your bird's style of play. It isn't aggression or anger. Good for you for having birds that interact so well with their toys!

Kili is the same way and attacks the bells on her toys too. I don't know what it is with parrots and bells. But all I can tell you is you DO NOT want to get your fingers between that parrot and her bell!

my budgie goes nuts at bells, i think he is trying to be louder than the bell. because when he achieves is he stops and plays with something else. (userly its coming over the the side of the cage for a pat)

he also hold the bell in his foot. turns it upside down and tried to eat the little bit that makes the noise

There is definitely something about bells and parrots. Both Lucy and Jessie attack their's all the time and they love playing with them ... I have at least 1 toy with a bell in their cage at all times because they play with them every day.

one of my budgies has a real weird thing for his bells, he puts them on his head! he goes from bell to bell as if trying them on for size. he will put his face in too and he talks to them all the time.
he is never far from one of them.
the other budgie could care less for bells.

Marnie attacks hers, she seems to hate that darn bell and is not happy till she knocks it down.
