Not stupid... young and optimistic and a bit uninformed, but we all must go through this, sometimes many times and in many areas. It is alright, and it is part of why we are here.

No, not stupid... unless we are all stupid because we all thought we were 'prepared' for parrot keeping when, in reality, nobody ever is.

I do free flights in the open

As for freeflights done in the open, perhaps folks thinking of that might want to read this guide

To Shanlung - How to do Free Flight Outside

I cannot encourage free flights in the open as the dangers are much more than what you folks can imagine as honestly, you have no idea just how dangerous that can be. Murphy is around and by your side at all times.

That being said, not only I did free flights.
I have many friends around the world who did that too.
Including those whose jaws dropped when they first saw me with Tinkerbell in Taiwan.

Best I show you the videos of what they have been doing.
One thing they have in common. None of them ever felt they are the trainers and the birdies their trainees.

They all are like me content to be the trainees, and accept the birdies as the trainers.
None of them ever felt they own the birdie or own pets.

They all felt like me those are their companions and to be given the dignity and respect due to intelligent sentients who are their equals.

In Taipei

Not only not all birdies are suitable for this.
Not all humans are suitable for this either. And when those two combined, even that much less so.

That being said, the right combination is possible. Such as below.
I think it is better to accept that then to deny all possiblity of that.

Things done must primarily be done for benefit to birdies.
ln which if flight is allowed to birdie at home (flight in aviary is a joke unless it is a HUMONGOUS aviary), and the respiratory system of birdie allowed to work with the air sacs and lungs

95% of benefits of flying will be already given to birdie.
Might even be 99% or more just to be allowed to fly in the house.

FREE FLIGHTS IN OPEN GIVE MAYBE 0.1% BENEFIT TO A BIRDIE ALREADY FLYING ABOUT IN THE HOUSE.

So you are already doing very very well by the birdie to allow birdie to fly at home.
The risk of free flight is great. Should be left to the mentally unbalanced folks.

We love our birdies as much if not more than anyone else.

:D But we are not quite right in the head as I really cannot think of logical and rational explanation :D

So be normal.
Do not be like us.
But be free to enjoy what we do.

FREE FLIGHT IS LIFE AND DEATH PLEASE DO NOT TRY THIS YOURSELF UNLESS YOU DO KNOW.
NEVER EVER FREE FLY WITHOUT THE KNOWLEDGE AS THIS CAN LEAD TO LOSS AND DEATH OF YOUR BIRD.
