Why don't you just make it easy on yourself and use a chair back instead.

Budgies don't need that many toys. 2 toys in a budgie's cage is probably sufficient.

You're welcome :)

I've also noticed that many budgies aren't interested in toys and you have to teach them how to play. One problem is that many birds are kept in fish tanks (glass boxes) with no real toys in bird stores. That's how Duke was kept. I think these are the birds that have little or no interest in toys.

No. Duke was hand raised by someone else and store bought at about 3 months old.

You can also be creative and make toys and perches. My budgie loves ripping paper, cardboard and the hair and skin of the corn. I try and produce my own toys when possible. Palm tree leaves are also a favorite. Just make sure you wash them before giving them to the bird if you pick them up from outside.

I recently made a t-perch by gluing a tree branch to a wine cork (the top of which was cut and shaped to support the perch. Then I place that cork into a small water bottle's neck filling the bottle with send or something to make it heavier. With the bottle as a base, the cork as a bridge and the branch as the perch I ended up with a perfect t bar in less than 5 min.

Look around and check out what you've got in your house : ) just make sure it's all safe for your bird. nothing toxic or that she could swallow and choke on.
