Need help identifying my bird :)

Postby SteveThyme » Sat Feb 27, 2016 1:53 pm

Hello,

In the Summer we found ourselves in a fairy tale. A Hawk dropped a parrot into our garden. We took in the frightened little fella and she has been part of our family ever since, but we are not quite sure what species she is, could anyone please tell me?

Thank you in advance. :)

I am not positive but I think that this is a mountain parakeet. I thought about it being a barred parakeet aka linolated parakeet but their tails are not nearly as long as with this bird. The physical build of this bird reminded me of a Monk parakeet, but the colors are all wrong, then I saw some pictures of the mountain parakeet and think that they are a match.

Look at the pictures in the photo gallery.
