BH / RB breeders?? -- Canada

Postby Boman » Sun Jun 12, 2011 10:50 pm

Heyhey!

The wife and I just moved into our condo in Vancouver, BC and are ready to take on a parrot friend. We're interested in both the BH and RB parrots. We're wondering if any of you fellow Canadians know of any reputable breeders of such breeds? --- preferably closer to Vancouver as we could give them a visit, and minimize shipping etc. That being said, I've had a hard time trying to track one down lol. So if we must have one shipped, that is ok :)

Cheers :D

I don't know about anything closer to BC, but I do know of a breeder who has both Brown head parrots and Red-bellied parrots. She's located in Southern Ontario and I do believe she'll ship.

I was very interested in getting a female RB parrot from her last year before Pixel showed up, unfortunately the clutch only had males. And when I went to visit, had I not been set on a female RB, I was very close to leaving with one of her BH babies.

No problem - and by the way her breeder pairs are kept in spacious and clean cages and are fed a good diet. She only has a few pairs so there is no constant turn around of babies.

I would highly recommend Barb at Soltia Aviary as well ... Funny enough I only live minutes from her but haven't been to see her place yet. But I would highly recommend her. I wouldn't think twice about getting a RB or BH from her.

Do you know where in Southern Ontario she's located? Pois and Pis are both on my list of possible future birds when I finish university, so it might be nice to go in and meet some of the species if she would allow that. I've met Senegals and Meyer's before (both were absolutely charming), but never a Pionus. :)

I've checked out the website and noticed that she does not have any RB's for sale at the moment...I've sent an email asking if she is expecting any.

Does anyone else know of any RB breeders in Canada??

Woooooo! Looks like my wife and I will be getting a Baby Brown Headed parrot when one of her babies is ready to leave home.

Now it's time to prep :)

Cage, playstand, take care of necessary household changes etc

We're excited!
