More than 2 conures per large cage

Postby Big Uli » Sat Apr 14, 2012 9:53 am

Hi all
This is my first post so maybe i tell you summit about me first.
My name is Uli, I'm big and i have breed exhibition budgerigars for quite some time.
Sadly due to time and work i have had to give the hobby up.
It's a lot of work to look after 16 breeding cages a main flight and 2 young bird and baby flight.

I can however not be without birds and want to go back to having other birds than budgies.
I'm turning my bird room into a garden room and i have a 5x2x4 foot cage in there i want to house green cheeked conures of several colour types.
As this is such a big cage and i'm going to buy young unsexed birds i'm wondering what will happen if a pair finds itself eventually.
Are green cheeks evil little dwarfs like budgies or would they still get along OK in a cage that size.

Or maybe nobody who has read the post so far knows the answer. Personally I wouldn't keep more than two in a cage that size, if they did pair off they can be quite aggressive to other pairs.
If they do lay you can use the same methods as you would with budgies to prevent them hatching or discourage them to lay more.
