Differentiating

If the bird is already trick trained, it shouldn't take long to teach the clicker. Maybe do a half dozen clicks just for treats at first to get it interested in the sound. Then practice tricks that it has down rock solid and can't mix up with anything else (target is a good one to do) so that it can get used to hearing a click when the right behavior is done. After 2-4 days of this, I think you should be able to use the clicker for your purpose. And of course the clicker is the #1 answer for differentiating your tricks. I kind of assumed you were already doing that and had further problems but clicker is definitely the first place to start cause it can very clearly mark the correct behavior.
