INTRODUCTION and HOUSING ADVICE

Postby Labbie » Mon Jun 27, 2016 11:53 pm

I currently have two female Rainbow Lorries who are about three years old and live together in a large cage.

I have just purchased a male, as I wish to start breeding. I currently breed Lovebirds but this will be the firs time breeding Lories.

I am wondering if after the initial introduction, I should put the male in the cage with both girls and let him pick and nature take its course or whether, I should separate the two females and put the male together with just one female on their own. my concern is that the two females will fight over the male. Also, do Lorries bond and pair together like Lovebirds?

Thanks
Labbie

Don't change the cage set up. After a months quarantine you can let them all out together to see how they do. I would not close them in together until he bonds with a female and invites her to his cage.

I already answered a similar question on your lovebirds so I'll just repeat it here: if you live in the Northern Hemisphere, the breeding season is over for the year. Also, I would suggest you learn more about birds in general and the species you have in particular because, going by your questions, it doesn't seem as if you are knowledgeable enough to breed (not that I approve of breeding parrots for the pet trade).
