Interspecies cooperation

An article on passerines of different species sharing nests, feeding each other babies, etc. Now, as far as I know, this has not been observed in parrots BUT we do know of intraspecies cooperation (as in the case of bachelor budgies helping feed an unrelated pair's babies and Liz always tells of a male she has which is always trying to sit on abandoned eggs and which fed an unrelated baby) and I wonder if this happens in the wild. I have seen amazons and conures gravitate toward one another even though they had not lived together or even seen another bird before they came to me... is this an ingrained behavior? An atavistic memory, maybe?
