Here is an article explaining what an animal behaviorist looks at when confronted with a bird that has 'behavioral problems' and why their perspective does not work. Namely, behaviorists are not ethologists and, although they do very well with domesticated animals kept as pets, parrots are undomesticated and cannot be treated the same as a dog or a cat so the 'give it toys, train it' is not going to work when, in reality, what birds need is the humans to be trained in proper husbandry.
