Hi all

I have my baby quaker now and just a slight concern about his poop!?
He tends to catapult it across his brooder.... is this normal?

It is also brown but them alot of clear fluid with it. Is this also normal?

I don't know about the catapolt. My birds poop diffent colors according to what they eat. Birds don't pee. That could be just drinking extra water because of the heat.

I am just the first to reply. I am sure someone more knowledgable will answer your questions better.

I'm not an expert either but like Liz said, the color will change depending on what they have been eating. If they are eating seeds it will usually be green, if they are eating more fresh foods and veggies it will be light brown. Some foods like berries will color their poop. For example, after eating blueberries it may be purple.

There are three parts, the well formed green, brown, etc. part, the white part, and the clear fluid. The clear fluid is their equivalent to our urine but it comes out with the rest of the waste. They can have more or less of this depending on again what they are eating, how much water they are drinking, and especially after a bath where they may have ingested some. I always notice more after my bird eats fruit since so many fruits are mostly water. Hope that helps. :)
