Java Wood BEAKS Java Ickle Playballs - Unpleasant odor?

Postby lzver » Thu Jul 29, 2010 5:41 pm

I picked up a package of small BEAKS Java Ickle Playballs for the first time today ... I wanted to try out a different toy that could my birds could play with as a foot toy and chew on if they wanted to.

I'm sure there is someone on the board that has bought these before and will be able to ease my mind. When I opened the bag, there is a strong implesant (to me anyways) smell to them. I immediately moved them away from the birds and I'm reluctant to give them to them.

Is the smell normal? Has anyone encountered this before?

I picked up a pack of them but have yet to open it.
I'll pop it open once I'm done my assignment and see if they have an odd smell as well.

I got my question answered today.

I was at Exotic Wings & Things in St. Clements Ontario today and since they had the same thing there I decided to ask them about the smell. They said the smell was normal and they suggested airing them out for a few days before giving them to the birds.

Good to know ~ I still have not opened mine but think I might now so I don't have to do it later!
