anybody know how to make perch gym steril??

hi guys,
there is a big walnut tree near my home n i totally fall in love with the perch.
i read from few website i should bleach the perch n bake in in oven/microwave for few min before build it.
is it correct?
many people said bleach is dangerous,n about the oven...nooo,i cant fit the perch inside my oven!!its huge compare to my oven or microwave size.
any better idea???thxx for the help

to be honest i just bring the perches through a scrub in the shower, might add if your living next to an airfield or something you might want to put some more work into cleaning them since there will be a lot of fuelspillage and stuffs on the trees is your living on the wrong side of the landingstrip

i dont live next to airfield,actually my area is a green area in my city.so probably the branch wont be that much dirty.
should i wash the branch with detergent also??or only water??

I usually use a mild soap. They sell soaps for the personal areas at the drugstores here that is really mild and perfume free. That's usually what I use and then rinse it really well. The way I see it. If I bring my bird outside and he starts chewing on a nontoxic tree I wouldn't really panic. So why would I panic a lot about the branches I bring inside... But I live quite far from the city or anything polluting my air or yard... Dunno if I would be more stressed if I lived in a city or something... You gotta live it to know it

Oh, I might add that I always saw down fresh branches from the trees, or just cut down a small tree. Whatever I'm not using goes into the furnace to have heat and hot water anyways. I might actually spend more time scrubbing the twig if I were to pick one up that is laying on the ground. Dunno weather the branch you have found is living or dead, just thought I'd add that.
