Another bias story against parrots...

Postby Pajarita » Mon Dec 30, 2019 12:37 pm

They are now blaming the decline in sparrows and bulbuls in Israel to the poor feral IRNs and mynahs. Of course, the fact that man has destroyed their natural habitats and that he has caused global warming affecting all sources of food is not relevant - only the fact that there are birds that 'don't belong' - sheesh! There is a saying in Spanish that says that the blindest of man is the one that refuses to see...

I think it is a natural thing that the IRN has moved in.

It is like the Tasmanian Tiger being replaced by Dingos.

Well, I don't know if I would call it 'natural' because, after all, it was man that brought them there but the point is that we all live with lots and lots of species that originally came from somewhere else and became naturalized. Rats, for example, which are EVERYWHERE in the world except for Antarctica, came from China. And then we have pigeons and starlings and snakes and feral cats and some species of spiders and scorpions, etc. etc. etc. Aside from this, there are now studies that show that after an initial 'adjustment' period, everybody learns to live together without a problem. The fact is that they use the excuse of the 'competing' between the species when, in reality, their motivation to get rid of them is money they don't want to spend preventing them to eat the crops - crops they planted after destroying the natural habitat of the same species they claim to protect by killing the introduced species.
