Are there any reputable sources for African Greys around Alabama that are not priced in the thousands?

Be careful. All of the “cheap” sources of African Grey’s out there are scams. I don’t think you can find a legit baby Grey for under $5k these days. As for adopting from a rescue, because greys shot up in price so much, Rescues are either cleaned out of Grey’s or simply aren’t adopting the ones they have. If you are looking to spend under a thousand, best to look at a Cockatiel or a few species of parakeets.

Well, I think that if you are willing to travel and wait long enough, looking all the time, you can find an African Gray to adopt. Look in CL (not only in your state), Petfinder and all the rescues nearby.

The biggest problem you will have is that you live too far from the rescue for their home visit so see if they would accept a local rescue to do the home visit for them.
