New bird mom from Quebec (Canada)

Hello,

I'm a new member on this forum. We just added a new member to our family and I was looking for a good forum with lots of information and I think I found it.

Our new baby is 3 months old, he is a brown-headed Parrot and is name is Zoulou (Zulu in English if you prefer). He has settled in very easily (we just had him yesterday) and he is a real sweety. Very quiet so far (although it may not last), easy going and nice to both my kids and myself. Even my daughter, who's afraid of birds, can pet him.

Welcome also from Canada. I am waiting for my bird to wean from a breeder in Quebec....I am in Vancouver. Your bird specied under you name has to do with how many posts you have had....its a status thing.

Welcome to you and your Brown Headed Parrot. I have a Brown Necked Parrot.

Don't let the cuddliness of the baby fool you. It leaves a lot of people surprised when their bird turns mean as it matures because they didn't do any taming early on. Do taming/training now while the bird is young and it is still easy. This is the best article to get you started and if you do this a little each day, the bird can stay tame for life:

as a matter of fact, I saw your work with Kili and Truman (I hope I get their names right) and even tried a few things already (with mitigated success, but Rome wasn't built in one day...).

So I will definitely work with Zoulou to keep him tame, and to try and not make him a one person bird, like my Quaker was.

I will read this article too, thanks. I'm also reading a lot on the net, I bought Birds in USA 2010 and 1 Bird Talk, plus I'm watching your videos...

And I'll be learning some more here.
