Hello from Oxford, UK

Postby Wolgrub » Thu Nov 05, 2009 3:10 pm

Hello. Wolgrub here. I have just joined this forum (Well, duh!). I have three parrots (or 'FIDs' as some people from USA call them). Chips is the CAG and Bubble and Squeak are the Senegals. More about them elsewhere. At the moment I am sitting at work listening to a class of flamenco guitarists repeating the same strumming exercise over and over and over again. I think they are trying to hypnotize me.

Good luck avoiding the famous flamenco mind control!

That was quick! I only joined about ten minutes ago. Thank you for your welcome. I much appreciate it.

How does Chips get on with Bubble and Squeak? There's a question. I have had Chips since he was a chick. To start off with I was unemployed so I had plenty of time to spend with him. Then about seven years ago I got a job and was spending considerably less time with him. I was concerned that he was lonely when I was out so I took some advice about getting him some company.

A couple of parrot-owning friends warned against getting another CAG as they might not get on and I would be stuck with two stroppy parrots, glaring across the room at each other with hatred and venom in their souls.

Accordingly I did some more research and ended up getting a pair of baby Senegals so Chips could have them as company when I was out. It's been three years now and I would say they have developed a working relationship. At first Chips wasn't into it at all but Bubble and Squeak are nothing if not persistant. They will insist on being social and friendly and no matter how much he might want to growl at them, in the end they always end up sitting together in (nearly) harmony. Or, at least, not killing each other.

I guess that's as much as I could reasonably expect.
