At my place we all chip in to take care of the birds. The feeding and cleaning is all me, but the important stuff- spending time and giving the birds attention- we all share in those duties. I work on the road for AAA (I'm the AAA dude) and I work 4 10 hour days. On my 3 days off I'm home with the birds. On the other days I see them in the morning and put them to bed at night, but either my boys (not to be confused with The Kids) or girlfriend are here with the birds. The birds spend only a few hours a day alone.
My quaker
, who I've only had a week and a half, is already bonding to me and when I'm not here he gets squawkey/screechey and has some issues with agoraphobia I'm working on with him. So when I'm not here he gets very loud hopefully this phase ends quickly! The kids and Hades
spend most of the day on the perch. The kids we have to keep a close eye on because those hell raisers will go exploring or just mess with the other birds. Hades just flies to his cage when he gets hungry and will fly back to the perch after eating.
So our day jobs don't leave the birds alone very much and the birds (and dogs- we have 2) do keep each other company when we are gone. We have a good thing going here!
