The Versace cape was made entirely of ostrich feathers which, of course, caused a ruckus at Peta prompting them to tweet about it. Now, the tweet says that birds were killed for their feathers which doesn't necessarily have to be true BUT even if the birds were not killed for them, they still suffered when the feathers were 'harvested' (ostriches are herded into an enclosure, blinded so they don't struggle and feathers are pulled). The industry can claim all the want that the procedure is 'painless' but anybody who has a bird knows very well that this is an outright lie. And it is 100% true that the 'message' of the cape (USA flag on one side, PR flag on the other) could have been delivered without harming animals!
