I've wondered that myself. Why not at least say hi and introduce your flock?

Sometimes you need to join a forum to be permitted to access all it's features, so that's why some people register. I think others just like to fill out their names and other relevant info., and the rest? No clue...

Most people just want to be able to read all the information, but feel no need to participate. Maybe scared to ask stupid questions ;)
The add-bots are more annoying in my oppinion.

An average of 2.3 people join every day. Of all of those 39% will not make a post. 16% will only make one post. 29% will make 2-9 posts. And only 16% make 10+ posts. Pretty incredible to think that more people join this forum to make zero to one posts. Plus those who do make 10+ posts are the rarest people on this site (one person less than single posters). So if you have made more than 10 congrats, you are the least common of the population, choosing to take the path less taken.

So there you go. It took me about 15 min. to put it all together but it was worth it :D

Of those 10+ only 5% posted more than 50. But those 5% contribute 78% of all posts.

That is the general rule of forums....you'll have many who join but only a rather small number will participate in the discussions!
