New addition?

Postby pchela » Wed Nov 17, 2010 11:07 pm

So I drove up to Waco last Friday and picked up the sweetest Timneh I've ever met. She did not take any time to adjust to us. She just stepped right up from the carrier when we got home (after a 4 hour drive for her) and was demanding scratches from me within a few hours. She loves to preen and be preened. She will let me spread out her wings, touch her back or her feet. She is just so trusting and so sweet. I would never expect that from a rehomed bird that is in a new environment and especially not from a Grey. She also seems to be just in the beginnings of learning to talk well. I've only heard a few words but she repeats them over and over like she's maybe practicing? She is saying the standards like "step up, perch, good girl, hello and I love you". So maybe she'll turn out to be a good talker! Not necessary of course, but a cool added bonus! I took her on a foster basis but I don't know how well that's going to work... I'm already in love.
btw - I'll try to get some better photos.. these were just snapped with my phone and she was not feeling cooperative.

She's beautiful!

Does she have a name already or have you picked one out?

How could I forget to tell you her name?!

So, her original name was Hugs and then the woman I got her from called her Tara and I do not like either so her name is Esme after my favorite Terry Pratchett character!

Yes everybody, I named her within a few days. I know. Seems impossible but it's true!

Sounds like the name was there just waiting for her to come by and claim it! Welcome Esme!

Congratulations Melisa! I can't see the pictures from work, but from your description so far, she sounds adorable. I can't wait to hear all the Esme stories :) The fact that you picked a name so quickly must mean that its fate :D
