Oh my goodness that is so devastating! Most breeders and pet stores do offer some kind of health guarantee - contact whoever you got him from and it might be possible for you to pick out another baby. It sounds to me like he wasn't totally weaned.

I am so sorry, he was so handsome.

I'm sorry for your loss.

I'm actually feeling very sad about this. I guess it sounds as if he was probably sick, with the polyuria and the lethargy, so you might want to be careful about disinfecting everything and keep an eye on your other bird. Makes me want to run home and check on my guys.

Thank you for your concern, I will be cleaning everything but I still feel like the death is due to leaving the handfeeder too early / stress.

Have you contacted the breeder yet about your parrotlet?

Yes, the breeder happened to be a girl our age..(18-19) So I'm assuming she didnt have too much experience or the time to carefully raise the birds. She agreed to give me a refund, which I will be picking up within the week.

It is so unfortunate that you had to go through that. Thankfully, she agreed to the refund and if you choose you can go to a different breeder and pick out another baby. I think Jessie is right, and though it might hurt a little at first it might help to heal that little whole that your parrotlet left. I know how easy it is to get attached....I had a cockatiel for 3 days that I rescued and I still am devastated that I lost him. :( I know you can get through this.

You guys are all so sweet. :)

I honestly think I won't be replacing him in the next while, and if ever many many many years down the road. It just doesn't seem right, and by human nature I'd be getting another blue one if I were to, and make subtle comparisons in my subconscious and go, 'oh, Ponyo was better' etc. You know what I mean?

I decided I'm going to wait a couple years and add either a timneh grey, a cape parrot, or an amazon- and settle there for a good part of my adulthood.
