My Lovebird is behaving strangely!

Postby Jungkookie » Wed Mar 10, 2021 6:03 pm

Good morning,

I have a question about my bird!

The bird takes food out of its mouth and then returns to chew it again.
What does that mean?
Does he suffer from any disease?
Is this considered vomiting? or regurgitation?
Or is it because of spring time?
I heard birds normally do that in the early spring.
Do you have any idea?

Thank you.

Hi, Kookie and lovie, welcome to the forum. Yes, what your lovebird is doing is regurgitating but lone birds don't do that unless they are super overly hormonal so I strongly urge you to re-evaluate its light schedule (solar or human?) and diet (are you free-feeding protein food?) because although this is normal for a male bird with a mate during breeding season, it is not normal for a bird that is all alone.
