New cage - is it too full ?

Postby sidech » Sat Dec 18, 2010 6:21 pm

Hello,

I'm preparing for the arrival of my new baby male Eclectus, hopefully in about 10 days.

I have set up his cage, and it is now ready for him. Do you think it is too full ? If so, what should I take out ?

Thanks !

(oh, and I'm going to Google the plant behind the cage to find out if it is toxic for birds. If so, it'll go before the baby gets in his cage).

It looks good to me! Though, I would try to spread that bottom rope perch out so it covers the width of the cage, if you know what I mean.

But then again, you'll get a better idea when he actually arrives. I moved around Einsteins stuff around a few times before figuring out the perfect place for everything.

Oh, and I'm going to ask again, are you getting him from sunset aviaries? It's where Einstein is from.

When I decided I wanted a cockatiel, I was going to buy a cockatiel from a different breeder. But it turned out that they sold the bird I reserved. I was very upset, and my stepdad told his accountant the next day at work. She then told him that one of her neighbors was Shirley, from sunset aviaries. I was lucky that she had one cockatiel baby left, and that's how I got my Einstein.

Anyways, I think it would be cool if we had birds from the same breeder. :)

Good luck when your baby does arrive!

Thanks Zazanomore !

Yes, my baby is from the same place as your baby Cockatiel. I had read your comments about Shirley and it helped me take my decision. Plus, I also asked a few Eclectus breeder I trusted.

I hope I can have him soon, he will be my Christmas present, from me to me ! I deserve it !

Thank you skeetersunconure !

It's a Hanzy cage, no PP-43 I think. It's 34 x 24 x 52 or something like that. And actually really cheap (299$) brand new. I probably will have to buy another one in a few years, but for now I'm satisfied with it.

It's kind of like we have brothers! Are you going to pick up your baby from her house? When I went there, there was a bunch of baby greys on a perch on the ceiling, it was so cool! I never had the chance to see that many birds at once before.

Adopted brothers then...

Yes, I am. I have a 6 hour drive back and forth. So I'm hoping it won't be snowing...

I looked up my plant, and it IS toxic. Oh well, I'll just take it downstairs in the guest room. Just hope I remember to water it once in a while...

6 hour? Don't you live in Montreal? There and back it should only take you 4 hours.

I'm on the north shore of Montreal, at least 30 minutes from it, without traffic.

I used Google maps, which is usually very precise, and it gives me 6 hours. I thought it was 4 hours too, at first. I was going to go see him one week-end, 4 hours would have been okay, but 6 was just too much to go twice.
